Bahnwärter Thiel – 2015 ↓
This is my interpratation of my favorite german novel i have done for a bookcourse at the University of Applied Sciences of Berlin (HTW). It has a very strong visual language that is no way transfered in the boring form of a standard german school book format. I had the idea to reinterprate this beautiful but dark novel and make it contempary, without forgetting its origin.
I cooperated with Jakob Kielhorn to create a book that would transport the strong emotions of the book. We came to the point that we want to create a modern and digital Linocut and only use 3 colors that are found a lot in the book: white, red and black!

creation of the illustrations
in order to create a illustration we worked with photography to see how light can effect the mood of an image. we worked with a red and a white light and then illustrated these.
